Why does NICS fundraise?

The goal of NICS is to keep education powered by Jesus as affordable to as many families as possible. The tuition payments alone do not cover the operating costs to educate students with Christian curriculum that exceeds the minimum education requirements. Our standardized tests consistently show our students outperform public school students by a large margin. The estimated cost to educate an Idaho public school student is $7,500. At NICS, the estimated cost per student is $6,500. Our desire to help students grow in Christ-like character and meet rigorous academic standards is the reason we choose to fundraise to fill in the tuition gap.

Are the teachers at NICS certified?

Yes, most of our teachers at NICS are Certified by ACSI. For more information about each teacher and their credentials, check out our Faculty and Staff page.

What curriculum is used at NICS?

The administration and staff evaluate our curriculum to see what best meets the needs of our students. Most, but not all, of our curriculum is from Christian Publishers. For example, we use Purposeful Design, Bob Jones, Sadlier, Institute for Excellence in Writing and more. Regardless of the curriculum used, all classes are taught from a Biblical Worldview and teachers are required to integrate the bible daily.

Does NICS encourage parent volunteers?

Each family is required to volunteer 15 hours per year. There are a variety of ways to do this from working at home to helping with our annual fundraiser.

Does NICS require students to wear uniforms?

Yes. Uniforms may be purchased from the following suppliers:

www.landsend.com

www.dennisuniform.com

NICS has a consignment closet which is open by appointment. Uniform pants and shorts only may be purchased from the uniform department at Land’s End, Old Navy, Kohl's, Walmart, Target , Dennis Uniforms and must be khaki, black, or navy blue in color.

**If you have any questions about uniform guidelines, please contact the school office before making any purchases.

What is the maximum class size?

Due to ongoing changes and challenges, we are currently accepting 23 students per grade level (16 in Kindergarten, 20 in 1st through 2nd). We reserve the right to modify class size numbers as necessary while keeping the student-teacher ratio low.

What are the school hours?

NICS holds classes Monday through Thursday. Students in Kindergarten attend from 8:30 to 2 pm. Grades 1-3 attend from 8:00 to 3:30 and students in grades 4-6 are in classes from 7:45 to 3:30. The secondary grades 7-12 are in school from 7:45 to 3:45.

Is NICS an accredited school?

Yes! We are accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE), and Cognia (formerly AdvancEd). Additionally, the core high school courses have been approved by the NCAA. All agencies are recognized by the United States Department of Education.

Does being accredited mean government agencies dictate what you teach?

Absolutely not! We are first and foremost a school dedicated to Jesus Christ and teaching from a biblical worldview. We will never compromise our beliefs.

What are the tuition rates?

North Idaho Christian School is pleased to offer variable tuition to all new and returning families. Variable tuition is a need-based tuition assistance program.   Under variable tuition, families may pay as little as 50% of the full tuition rate. To find out if your family qualifies for variable tuition simply apply for Financial Grant and Aid Assessment through FACTS.

With this in mind, the 2021/2022 tuition rates for NICS range from $4895 to $5857 per year. Payment plans come in 12, 10, or 9 month schedules. For detailed information, click on Admissions and scroll down to the bottom.
